Growing Instructions

Starting your seeds

You can start Bush Bean seeds indoors using a heat mat to encourage germination. Once the seedlings sprout and grow a few sets of leaves, move them outdoors. Keep the soil moist and provide 6–8 hours of sunlight daily. When direct sowing Bush Bean seeds, plant them about 1 inch deep in well-drained soil, spacing them 2–4 inches apart in rows 18–24 inches apart to give them plenty of space to grow.

Harvesting your seeds

When harvesting bush beans Wait until the pods are firm, crisp, and about 5–6 inches long. For the best flavor, harvest when the beans inside have fully developed, but the pods are still tender. Gently pull the pods from the plant by hand or with scissors, making sure to leave the plant’s base intact for continued growth. If you’re harvesting for drying, wait until the pods are fully mature and the beans inside rattle when shaken. Trim any leaves or stems that are damaged, leaving the healthy plant intact for a continued harvest.
